Responsible Business Conduct

The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises

The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises set out the principles and standards for responsible business conduct expected by the governments of the Slovak Republic and 45 other countries from multinational enterprises to observe. The Guidelines help companies deal with matters such as responsible supply chain management, human rights, child labor and environment consistent with applicable laws and internationally recognized standards.

National Contact Point

Governments adhering to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises are required to set up a National Contact Point (NCP) whose main role is to further the effectiveness of the Guidelines by undertaking promotional activities, handling enquiries, and contributing to the resolution of issues that may arise from the alleged non-observance of the guidelines in specific instances.

In the Slovak Republic, NCP was established by decision of the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic on 18 January 2016, consisting of government administration representatives (respective ministries), National Bank of the Slovak Republic, the Export – Import Bank of the Slovak Republic and relevant trade unions. Role of NCP president is held by director of Bilateral Economic Cooperation Department at Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, while role of NCP Secretariat is performed by respective department.
